Eugene was a long standing member of the group and contributed greatly to it's ongoing success. He also created the original uspi.ie website, researching and populating it with all kinds of useful information, which still benefits those experiencing relationship difficulties to this Day.

Crabby Old Man

Crabby Old Man what do you see
What are you thinking when you’re looking at me,
I’m a small Child of Ten with a Father and Mother,
Brother’s and Sisters who Love one another,
A young boy of Sixteen with wings on his feet
Dreaming that soon now a Lover he’ll meet
A Groom at Twenty my Heart gives a leap,
Remembering Vows I promised to keep
At Twenty Five, I have young of my own,
Who need me to guide them and secure them a home.
A Man of Thirty my young grow fast,
Bound with each other with ties that should last.
At Forty my young Sons have grown and are gone,
But my Women beside me to see I don’t mourn.
At Fifty once more, babies play round my knee,
Again we know Children my loved ones and me.

Dark Days are upon me my love is now gone,
And I think of the years and the Love that I have known
I’m now an old man and nature is cruel
Joke of making old age but look like a fool
The body it crumbles, grace and vigor depart
There is now a stone where I once had a Heart.
But in this old carcass , a young man still dwells
And now and again my battered Heart swells.
I remember the joys, I remember the pain.
I am Loving and Living Life all over again
I think of the years, all too few, gone too fast
And accept the stark fact that nothing can last

So open your eyes, open and see,
Not a Crabby Old Man,
Look closer at me.

Benefit Night:

Eugene's Cheque
A benefit night was held in Eugene's memory on August 6, 2011. Thanks to the support on the night and the generosity of Anne Spain and Eugene's entire family, a large sum was raised and donated to U.S.P.I. The members of U.S.P.I. would like to extend their sincere thanks to Anne and her family for this wonderful gesture.

Click on the photo above for pictures of the presentation of the cheque to Eamonn Quinn of U.S.P.I. and of Eugene's beloved motorbike (which was raffled on the night and won by Lena Moran)
